'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of his team's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike from 25 yards, and the defender quickly slammed home the deflection before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an extraordinary recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the delirium, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
